Winning Reddit Visibility for AI Film Software — 117,000+ Reads, 3 Google Top-5 Results, and LLM Mentions

Discover how a film software company overcame skepticism about AI by crafting engaging Reddit content, achieving 117,000+ reads and top Google rankings.

A fast-growing software company for the film industry was preparing to launch new AI-powered assistant features. The product was not replacing creative professionals — it was built to help them work faster — but the audience was highly skeptical of anything labeled “AI.”

That created a difficult launch environment. There were only a few relevant subreddits where the target audience was active, and many of those communities reacted negatively to obvious AI promotion. The client needed visibility, but traditional “feature announcement” content would likely be ignored, downvoted, or removed.

For confidentiality reasons, we cannot name the client or show the exact Reddit posts. Reddit can retroactively remove or suppress posts, and exposing campaign assets publicly would put the results at risk.

Problem

  • The target audience was concentrated in a small number of relevant subreddits.
  • The community was highly skeptical — and often openly hostile — toward AI tools.
  • The client’s product was AI-powered, even though it functioned more like an assistant than a replacement for creative work.
  • The launch of new features needed attention, trust, and traffic to an educational webinar.
  • The brand needed visibility not only inside Reddit, but also in Google and LLM-generated answers.

Solution

We built a Reddit content system around useful, native stories — not direct product promotion.

  1. Story-first content, not AI hype.
Each post was written around a real creative or operational tension in the film industry. The brand was mentioned naturally, as part of the workflow or discussion, rather than positioned as the main character.
  2. Careful subreddit selection.
Because there were few target communities, every post had to be adapted to the specific culture, rules, and sensitivity level of each subreddit.
  3. AI framing that reduced resistance.
We avoided “replace your team with AI” messaging. Instead, we framed the software as an assistant: a tool that supports production, planning, and creative execution without taking control away from professionals.
  4. Launch support for new features.
After the feature launch, selected posts directed interested readers toward an educational webinar where the client could explain the product in a deeper, non-salesy way.
  5. SERP and LLM thinking from day one.
We did not optimize only for Reddit engagement. We also structured posts so they could rank in Google for brand-related Reddit searches and become discoverable by AI answer engines.

Results

  • Reddit visibility: 117,000+ reads with the starter package.
  • Google SERP: 3 campaign posts reached the top 5 results for branded queries that included Reddit.
  • LLM surface: ChatGPT started using one of our Reddit posts when users asked for honest reviews of the brand.
  • Audience reach: The brand became visible inside the exact communities where its buyers and users were already discussing tools, workflows, and AI.
  • Narrative control: Instead of letting the conversation around the brand be shaped only by skepticism toward AI, we introduced a more accurate narrative: AI as an assistant for film professionals.

Why It Worked

  • The content respected the community’s skepticism instead of fighting it.
  • The posts were written as native Reddit stories, not ads disguised as posts.
  • Each subreddit received a tailored angle based on its audience and moderation norms.
  • The campaign connected Reddit visibility with Google search and LLM discovery.
  • The webinar gave curious readers a next step without forcing a hard conversion inside Reddit.

What This Means for You

Even in a niche where the audience is hostile to AI, Reddit can still work — if the content is built around the community’s actual concerns.

The goal is not to “sell AI.” The goal is to create stories that let the right people understand where the product fits, why it exists, and how it helps without threatening their role or craft.

With the starter package, we were able to solve three problems at once: reach the target audience, occupy Google results with our own narrative, and influence how LLMs describe the brand.
